Braided Narratives
Featured Speaker: Emma Hudelson
Location: Indiana Writers Center at the Indianapolis Opera – RSVP Required
Cost: Free for members; $20.00 for nonmembers

Braided narratives weave seemingly disparate topics together to create a whole that is greater than its parts. In her talk, Emma Hudelson will read from her new braided memoir Sky Watch: Chasing an American Saddlebred Story, discuss the craft of twining multiple topics and timelines, and offer a writing prompt inspired by the braid.


About the speaker:


Emma Hudelson is a nonfiction writer living in Indiana. She has one daughter, one husband, one dog, one cat, and one horse. Her book Sky Watch: Chasing an American Saddlebred Story will be out in 2024 with the University Press of Kentucky. Her work appears in The Cincinnati Review, The Chattahoochee Review, The Rumpus, and elsewhere, and she writes regularly for Saddle & Bridle. Emma writes about animals, women, and wellness. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s Ph.D. program in creative writing. She teaches writing at Butler University and runs Writing for Wellness workshops in Indianapolis and beyond.
